San Francisco Part 2

After my run I headed back to shower and hung out with Craig some more.  I really enjoying just sitting and talking with he and Scott.  I got to spend a little more time visiting with Scott this visit.  They headed out to run errands for a party they were having that night so I headed to Golden Gate Park for some sightseeing.  I wanted to hit the Japanese Tea Garden and get a few gifts for the kids plus it’s a really pretty garden to walk through.  I got a few knick knacks for the kids and walked both he Japanese garden and the botanical garden before heading back to get Dave.

Saturday night we had conflicting plans.  First we headed out to a west coast instructors dinner with Sensei at a sushi place that happen to be a 10 minute walk from Craig’s house.  IT was awesome.  I had my usual avocado and cucumber rolls and then had a really yummy Mango roll.  I took off early and left Dave with his friends to finish dinner.  Saturday nights at camp there is always a party.  Craig and Scott were also having a gathering at their house for Scott’s birthday and a bunch of my other friends were going to be there.  Dave decided to forgo the Aikido party and join me so he could meet my friends who knew me 20 years ago.  It was such a fun party.  We all stickers on our backs of a famous person.  You could ask each person 5 questions to figure out who you were.  I was having such a hard time getting mine.  I finally got to where I could see her face but couldn’t get her name.   I had about 10 people all yelling clues at me.  Finally I got it.  I was Jodie Foster.  Dave was Katy Segal.  He got his pretty quick.  We also did a blind wine tasting.  You had to categorize three wines by price.  Only one person picked the right most expensive.  It seems most of us are cheap dates thinking that the 2 buck chuck from Trader Joes was the most expensive and best tasting.  It was pretty funny.  They also did a pizza tasting comparing two restaurants but I didn’t do that since I had already eaten.  It was so much to catch up and visit with my old friends Catherine and John and their daughter and Wendy and Terry.  Catherine, Wendy, and Terry are all fellow runners who have done lots of major runs including marathons.   They were great to talk to about potentially doing a marathon next summer.

Sunday was really rainy so I wasn't able to run again.  I dropped Dave at his last class and headed back to pack and say goodbye to my friends.  I wish we could have stayed another day but it was so much to be there.  Below are Craig and Matthew.  I really didn't take may pictures during the trip. we were just to busy having fun.

After saying goodbye I headed back and got Dave.  We decided he would skip the last session so we could get a head start and make it over the mountain passes before the weather got yucky.  We said our goodbyes and headed off.  It was a very uneventful trip weather wise.  The passes were bare and dry.  Just what you want to see in the dark.  The bonus was we got into Medford in enough time to have Pizza at Kaleidoscopic again.  It was still awesome. The next morning on the advice of our waitress we went to the old farmhouse for breakfast.  It was awesome.  we headed on our way up I-5 to get home.  There was a lot of rain and traffic.  I was so engrossed in my book (The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo).  I finished it in three hours of straight reading.  First book I have really sat down in read in over a year.  We finally got home just before 6.  The kids were so happy to see us.  Max did a happy dance, Jakob and Hannah just grabbed on and wouldn't let go.  We had a wonderful evening with the kids so happy to be home and out of the car.  It was a wonderful trip.  so nice to get away together.  Now I can start planning my next trip to Co. Springs next May. YAY!!
